Resident Evil 4 Remake Crosses 7 Million Units Sold

Capcom has recently celebrated a significant sales achievement for its latest Resident Evil 4 remake. Released in March 2023 for gaming platforms including PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, the game has now exceeded sales of seven million units, marking an increase from the 6.48 million reported at the end of December 2023.

This sales surge coincides with the Gold Edition release in February 2024. This special edition encompasses not only the original game but also the highly anticipated Separate Ways DLC, along with all the updates made post-launch. Players are treated to an expansive content package that includes The Mercenaries, the Extra DLC Pack with a variety of new costumes, visual filters, accessories, and Deluxe Weapons, enriching the gaming experience.

The remake of the beloved 2005 classic has been met with critical acclaim for its substantial upgrades over the original. It has seen a significant overhaul in graphics and the introduction of modern gameplay mechanics. Notably, it has eliminated the quick-time events in favor of a new mechanic that allows the protagonist, Leon, to fend off attacks with his knife, which now wears out and can break, adding a layer of strategy to combat. Among other enhancements are the introduction of auto-save functionality, diverse new enemy types, and additional side missions termed Requests, which further diversify the gameplay.

Capcom has successfully reimagined a fan favorite, infusing it with updated graphics and new gameplay elements while retaining the essence that made the original Resident Evil 4 a landmark title in the survival horror genre.
