Google Enhances Gmail with AI-Powered Writing Features for Seamless Communication

Google is enhancing its services with the integration of artificial intelligence across both web and mobile platforms, introducing useful new shortcuts. Following the most recent updates to Workspace, the tech giant from Mountain View has implemented a novel 'Help Me Write' feature, designed to offer writing assistance while composing or editing text in various online fields. Additionally, the popular 'Polish' functionality has now been made available across more platforms.

New features in Gmail emphasize AI-driven shortcuts. The company announced the launch of the 'Help Me Write' and 'Polish' enhancements on its web interface. When composing a new email and the draft is empty, the Help Me Write shortcut will be accessible directly within the body of the email on the web interface. In contrast, the feature's position in the Gmail mobile app will not change.

As for the Polish feature, it will now be available for email drafts that exceed 12 words. Users can swipe right on this shortcut to receive a refined email version. Alternatively, the Control+H keyboard command offers a similar function. Furthermore, users can customize their drafts by choosing from three preset options: Formalise, Elaborate, or Shorten.

The Help Me Write feature allows users to submit prompts to tailor their text more precisely. These can include phrases, questions, instructions, or sentences. For those looking to revise existing content, simply highlighting the desired text and right-clicking will initiate the rewrite function.

A digital illustration of the Gmail app icon, featuring a white envelope with a red and blue border, set against a clean and modern white background, with subtle gradient effects and soft shadows to give it a 3D appearance, the icon is centered in the frame, with a slight rounded corner and a subtle drop shadow, the overall style is minimalist, colorful and sleek, evoking a sense of professionalism and innovation.

This feature has been activated by default, without any administrative controls available to disable it. It is accessible to customers with Google Workspace, including those with Gemini Business and Enterprise add-ons, as well as subscribers to Gemini Education and Education Premium, and Google One AI Premium. The new features will be gradually introduced to users in both the Rapid Release and Scheduled Release categories, with the possibility of taking up to 15 days for full accessibility to all Gmail users.
