A New Fright: Paul W.S. Anderson Revives The House of the Dead for the Big Screen

Paul W.S. Anderson is recognized for his adaptations of video games into films, such as Mortal Kombat and the Resident Evil franchise. Although his works often receive criticism regarding their quality, they have gained significant popularity. Anderson remains committed to his craft and is currently developing a new rendition of The House of the Dead.

Sega's well-known rail shooter has previously been brought to life by Uwe Boll. However, Anderson asserts that his rendition will be far more frightening, as reported by Variety. This new narrative centers on the character Lisa Rogan, who starts a journey to save her father from hordes of mutants and the undead.

The team behind the production is composed of Anderson's collaborator Jeremy Bolt, alongside Sega's Toru Nakahara and contributors from Story Kitchen, including Dmitri M. Johnson, along with Mike Goldberg and Dan Jevons. The screenplay is nearing completion, and filming is scheduled to begin in the final quarter of this year.
